A bit about us 

Speech Therapy Somerset is led by Sara Plowright. 

Sara qualified as a Speech & Language Therapist (SLT) in 1993 at University College London. 

She has enjoyed the last 25 years working with children and adults with speech, language and communication needs. 
 

Sara Plowright  B.Sc (Hons), Reg HCPC, MRCSLT, MASLTIP  

For many years Sara specialised in working with children and adults with hearing loss, and her extensive NHS experience includes working at Great Ormond Street Hospital, as well as being Clinical Lead for a team of Specialist Speech & Language Therapists working in the field of hearing loss. 
 
Sara also held a Consultant SLT post, and most recently was Head of Department for a thriving Hearing Implant Service based in Bristol. 
 
Sara continued her professional studies at City University, and in 2004 she completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Clinical Studies, achieving a distinction for her clinical knowledge and skills. 
 
More recently, she has been developing her knowledge and skills in the use of an Auditory Verbal Therapy approach to working with children with hearing loss. 
 
Sara founded her own independent practice in 2019 and now works with children and families privately. 
 
Current projects also see her involved in university lecturing to SLT students, and contributing to the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) working group to update the Deafness Online Guidance.
